Daily pre-shift forklift inspection. Compliant with Québec's Construction Safety Code (CSTC) and CNESST standards.

Exterior walk-around

  • Check tires or wheels — wear, damage, pressure

  • Inspect mast, lift chains and fork carriage — wear, play

  • Check fork condition — cracks, wear, deformation, retaining pins

  • Inspect hydraulic hoses and cylinders — no leaks

  • Check fluid levels: hydraulic, engine, coolant, battery (if electric)

  • Inspect load backrest — intact and securely attached

  • Check headlights, backup lights, beacon and backup alarm

  • Fire extinguisher present and charge verified

  • Operator protective structure (overhead guard) intactCritical

  • Start — check warning lights, gauges and indicators

  • Test service and parking brakes

  • Test steering — smoothness, no excessive play

  • Test mast raise / lower and tilt

  • Test side-shift if equipped

  • Check horn and backup alarm

  • Seat belt present and functional

  • Check parking brake lever — correct engagement

Report / Sign-off

  • Log any deficiency in the inspection register
